TERM PAPER CHECKLIST

Note: You are advised to go through these checklist before the submission of the project.

1. Does the introductory section state specifically the purpose of my paper?

2. Have I developed the body of the paper according to the outline?

3. Does each paragraph have one central thought?

4. Does the paper accomplish my objective as stated in the opening paragraph?

5. Do my conclusions rest on the evidence presented in the paper?


6. Have I been consistent in my use of present, past, and/or future tense?

7. Have I decided which tense is most appropriate for my paper?

8. Do all comments of my own stem from my findings?

9. As I read the paper, is it clear and does it make sense?

  1. Have I used specific and concrete active verbs rather than weak and unclear passive

ones?


11. Have I minimized personal references by not using words such as I, we?

12. Have I eliminated meanderings and unnecessary repetitions?

13. Have I refrained from drawing too much material from one source?

14. Have I checked the accuracy of my quoted matter?

15. Does each quotation have a footnote reference?


16. Is the bibliography in correct form?

(Author's name, Title of reference, Volume number, Place of publication, Publisher, Date

of publication.)

17. Is every source mentioned in a footnote included in the bibliography?

18. Is the paper interesting to read?

19. Does the paper reflect my best effort?

20. Is my paper's physical appearance neat and attractive?


21. Is the paper free from grammatical errors?

22. Are the pages numbered in the correct order?

  1. Does my paper meet the criteria of the instructor's assignment for length, scope, and

interest?

24. Am I going to be ready to hand in my paper on the date it is due?

25. Are my tables and graphs, and charts easy to read and interpret, and are they accurate?


26. Have I had a friend proofread and critique the paper?

27. Have I proofread the paper?

  1. Does the title page include my name, student number, name of course, course section

number, name of instructor, and the date I submit the paper?

29. Is the title in correct form?

(The title is typed in capital letters, triple-space after the date and center it.)

30. Have I retained a copy of the paper?
